Yet another glorious month has passed in the Himalayas of Nepal. If I were to write my thoughts and put words to my emotions, I feel the world could not contain the books. I’ve entitled this update letter “Blessings & Battles” because this January has been packed with both abounding blessings from our Father & intense battles for transformation initiated by our enemy.
I’ll start with the blessings! As you can see in the pictures I’ve included in this update, Caleb and I truly had a “Heavenly” experience trekking to Annapurna Base Camp. We awoke Christmas day at 5:30am, traveled by bus, and hiked ALL day to finally conclude our Christmas adventure after 14 hours of traveling. It was an incredibly “unique” Christmas, hiking through surreal Nepali villages, crossing rope bridges, passing water-buffalos, and gazing at the magnanimous Himalayas. Our Heavenly Father truly knows how to give Christmas presents to His children: first He gave His only Son; and there-afterwards, He gives abundant life. To take a virtual tour through Heaven, browse through the multitude of photos I have posted on Facebook.
Blessings have also been abounding in our Bible School for the Nations as we encounter our King through revolutionary revelations of His character. God shared His Father heart to our class through me with emotional prayers and teaching about the pre-incarnate Christ and His incarnation this last week. We are truly falling in love with our Creator as we transition from knowing the God we think we want, to knowing the God who is!
Now for the Battles! Mid-January I found myself in shock as I listened to all the things that were happening all around us. BSN Staff and students alike were having incredibly strange dreams. Nightmares of death and hell haunted our thoughts. Sickness ran rampant as it hopped from one person to the next the entire month. Our families were going through difficult times. Motor bike accidents sent some of our brothers flying. A random dog in Kathmandu latched his teeth into Caleb’s leg creating quite the adventure. I randomly found myself waking up from the unknown with my head crashed to the concrete road. Nepalis instantly surrounded me asking what happened, but I had no idea. I randomly lost all consciousness in the streets of Kathmandu! Within minutes, we had several people praying and all was well. Strange times indeed.
Despite all the battles, God has remained faithful, kept us safe, and reassured us that we stand victorious! During my one and only HOT shower I’ve had since December, I spent a while thinking :-) and came to the conclusion we are doing something right! Our enemy must not like seeing the transformation wherever we place our feet. I’m convinced your prayers are making a profound impact here on the front-lines of the Asian mission field... not only in my life, but also in all the lives around me.
God provided the opportunity for me to teach the “Father Heart of God” and “The Life of Jesus” this last week. I love teaching! I’m where I’m supposed to be... right in the graceful arms of my Father relying on His strength and love!
Glory, Hallelujah for Life in Jesus!
